INTRAPERSONAL SKILLS ACTIVITY


LEARNER PREPARATION: 

For this activity, students should be familiar with various jobs and occupations within the Lubbock, TX economy.  Their familiarity should include general job descriptions and required skills/traits. 

OBJECTIVE: 

This activity is designed to afford students an opportunity to reflect on how they can make positive contributions to the Lubbock, TX economy through employment.

MEDIA AND MATERIALS: 

~ Microsoft Powerpoint

USE OF RESOURCES:  

Students will use Microsoft Powerpoint to create a classification tree.

LEARNER PARTICIPATION:  

Students will be expected to identify a potential career in Lubbock.  They should take some time to reflect on what makes a person successful in that position.  When they have drafted a list, they should then decide which traits they possess that would make them a good fit for the occupation.  Finally, students will create a classification tree that illustrates the results of their brainstorming and personal reflection. 

EVALUATION OF LESSON:

The final product will be presented to the teacher.  The teacher will in turn assess the student on the thought put into the project.  The teacher should also assess whether students have a firm grasp of the type of skills and traits that are required for various occupations.  There are no right or wrong answers to this subjective activity (within reason).
